Welcome to the first day of pod_aware!

To post a work for pod_aware, please include the following in your notes or somewhere easily visible to help spread awareness about podfic:

I recorded my first podfic before we called it podfic, kinda like the Shoebox Project Aloud thing I guess (though I was out of the HP/Marauders loop and never heard of it) - it was in 2002. I only released it to a few select friends because the author hadn't given me permission. I remember asking, but she never answered... she gave me permission this year when I posted about it and she discovered the whole thing though! Which is hilarious. :D

This is very cool. I have done a few popslash podfics, and I'd love to do some Idol ones, but for one thing—I'm very, very English. I feel... odd about recording stories in American fandoms, because I worry that it'll just sound *wrong*.

Occasionally there is a story which I must record—my favourite that I've ever done, because the story is completely awesome, is this one, but mostly I record stories that are either fantasy AUs or AUs set in the UK. And this is a bit limiting.

How would people feel about AI stories read in an English accent? And/or, can you direct me towards any 'accent-free' stories which I could have a go at?

YES. This. There were a million places I wanted to jump in, but this is the one that made me stop, quote KLB and leave a comment :D

I just listened to this podcast for the first time yesterday and enjoyed it tremendously. I found it a really connecting experience to hear other members of the podfic community talking about their experiences, and I'll definitely be checking out the other podcasts in this series. <3
